Construction

Here is the reason that it has been a while since my last review.

It is Academy's 1/32 scale F/A-18C Hornet, and the kit is huge!

This Hornet is my first attempt at a modern jet, let alone a 1/32 scale jet. Oh boy, did I drop myself in the deep end!

Academy's 1/32 scale F/A-18C has a lot of parts but construction did not really present many challenges and, overall, I enjoyed building the kit. However, I did think that the engineering breakdown was overly complicated with too many parts in places

Painting and Markings

The model was painted in a low-visibility scheme with Gunze acrylics using the Testor Aztek A470 airbrush.

Kit decals were used, representing a Hornet of CVW-5, USS Kitthawk, BuNo 164905, VFA-192 "World Famous Dragons" 2001.

I really enjoyed building this kit and will be building a Tornado in the same scale, but I think I will wait a while before tackling it.

Big and daunting, but definitely recommended.
