Ki-84 Hayate Prototype |
Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Ki-84 is available online from
Squadron.com
Hasegawa's 1/32 scale Ki-84 Hayate is quite an attractive model. This
relates to the subject - the Hayate is probably one of the most
appealing aircraft built- as to the general design of the kit:
construction layout is elaborate and the pieces show perfect fit and
plenty of details which is above the average. E.g. even the slots of the
screws are shown, the resulting look on the finished model is quite
stunning!
I built the model out of the box,
except Eduard seatbelts, scratch built brake lines, the flattening of
the tires and the drilling out of the machine gun muzzles.
The Ki- 84 was finished as one of two
prototype versions offered in the kit, using Gunze colours and “Mr.
Metal Aluminium” for the bare metal surface.
According to pictures of the real
aircraft I used as reference (if you would like to have a look I
recommend:

Dirt and weathering was kept to a
minimum.
