Construction

Here is Italeri's 1/35 scale M4A3 76(w) Sherman that I reviewed earlier on HyperScale.

The kit went together easily with no problems.

The only detail I added during construction, was to texture to the turret applied with a stiff brush and glue to soften the plastic.

The sandbag armour was from Legends. I had bought this from Firestorm here in Australia. The resin parts matched up well to the Italeri kit with no fit problems.

The stowage gear came from the spare parts box, with a camouflage net, set in white glue, thrown over the top.

Painting, Markings and Figures

The tank was airbrushed in Tamiya Olive Drab as a base coat, and then using different shades of the base colour in no particular order.

The sandbags were painted by hand using Tamiya Buff as a base, the dry brushing with different shades, again in no order. I then painted the metal rails that hold the sandbags Olive drab to give the impression of it being a recent add-on.

The mud was a mix of Tamiya putty, glue and brown paint, dabbed all over the lower hull and running gear. Mig pigments were applied, both wet and dry to come up with the dirty, dusty effect.

Finally, the three figures were added These are a mixture of Warriors and Verlinden.
