Here is my first attempt at figure modelling :
		Tamiya 1/16 Feldmarschall Erwin Rommel.

The base is solid Rhodesian Teak. The barrel and mug were both
scratch-built and the map depicts the actual El Alamein area.

I decided not to varnish the base, as it adds to
the dusty look and feel of the scene.

The base sides were masked off and then a thick
covering of crack filler was applied. While this was still wet, imprints
of the barrel and the figure were made, in order for them to be ‘in’ the
scene, and not ‘on’ it. I also added footprints around the barrel,
suggesting movement, but they have all but disappeared in the pictures.
The crack filler was then covered with fine sand and left to dry.
Larger stones were added and the base was then
		airbrushed with Tamiya enamels.
The barrel and coffee mug are both scratch-built
and the map depicts the actual El Alamein area.

The figure was also painted with Tamiya enamels.
The build was fairly straight-forward and I only added the straps for
the binoculars and the goggles, using painted masking tape. The figure
was then fixed to the base and the whole scene was then dusted off with
		Mig Productions Light Dust pigment.

I really enjoyed building this figure and I’m quite happy with the end
result. Hope you all like it!
