Tamiya's
1/35 scale Tiger II is available online from
Squadron
This is Tamiya's 1/35 scale Tiger II painted in Vallejo Modelair
acrylics, and weathered with a combination of acrylic craft paints and
pastels. The caked on mud was made from a slurry of Polyfilla, ground up
kitty litter and acrylic paint.
I sprayed the entire kit in Panzer Yellow then used consecutive
layers of Maskol to achieve the hard edged camo. The dots were applied
by first punching out small circles on a strip of Tamiya masking tape
then, using it as a stencil, brushed on the dots.
The side skirts and front and rear fenders were scratch-built from brass
sheet. The rear screens were cut from a sheet of Eduard mesh stock. I
used Aber tool clasps and some Grandt Line wing nuts for extra realism.
The barrel is from Elefant. The tracks are the vinyl ones supplied with
the kit.
For the figures I used Dragon's excellent Panzer Riders set with
Hornet heads. The figures are painted entirely in oils and dusted with
pastels.
This model was photographed at the ACT Scale Modellers' Society
Annual Competition held during May 2005 in Canberra, Australia's
national capital.
