Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190F-8 is available online from Squadron

 

Background

 

This is Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190F-8 converted to a Fw190A-8, representing the Wurger flown by Oberstleutnant Kurt Buehligen.

He was Geschwaderkommodore of the JG.2 Richthofen in Nidda/Hessen Germany from 28 April, 1944 up to 8 May, 1945.

This is the Schwerer Jaeger (Heavy Fighter) A-8/R4 version. Ruestsatz (Field Modification Kit) R4 includes:

  • 2 MG131 over the engine,

  • 2 MG151/20 in the wing roots,

  • 2 MG151/20 in the wings,

  • as well as a radio equipment FuG 16Z-Y

 

 

1344 Fw 190A-8s were built from February 1944.



 

The Model

 

This is Tamiya's 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Fw 190F-8 converted to a Fw190A-8.

  • From the CMK FW-190 F8 detail set: BMW 801 engine, wheel well, wheels, tail landing gear introduction, propeller, hood and covers.

  • From the Eduard photo etched parts:
    Cockpit, landing flaps, antenna, parts for pylon tank and landing gear parts

  • From the CMK A8/R2 conversion set:
    Wing ports for MG 151/20

  • From the CMK armament set:
    MG 151/20 wing weapons, weapon pits and flaps, tank flap and filler neck

 

 

  • From the Aires gun bay set:
    MG 152/20 in wing roots, weapon pit and flap, ammunition boxes for fuselage MG's

  • 2 Aires MG 131 as fuselage weapons over the engine

  • From theAires control surfaces set:
    rudder, elevators and ailerons

  • Scratch built:
    Clearance lights, brake and oil lines, cable, antenna, MG151 barrels from steel tube

  • Decals:
    Eagle Cals Decals EC#10 "FW190's Doras, F's andA's"

  • Colors from:
    Humbrol, X-tra Color, Tamiya, Revell
