Construction

This is my Tamiya 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Me 262A-2.  The model was modified to the A-1 variant using the Verlinden update to the Dragon kit.

The model was easy to build (One of Tamiya's best, in my opinion), with just a few gripes - principally the windscreen piece, which was not quite wide enough.

I used decals from Cutting Edge as well as their fantastic resin cockpit.

Additional bits and pieces came from the photo-etch fret packaged with Dragon kit. I did install the fuel tank/radio bay from the Verlinden set, but it is barely visible. I did not anticipate this, but I really enjoyed building the little Kettenkraftrad. My friend, Stan Spooner, has been preaching to me for a while about "crossing over" to the "dark side" ... (this is how Stan refers to armor modelling).

He just may have something there. I told him I would jump right to it as soon as I have built the rest of modest collection of
200+ aircraft kits.

The last photo was from unknown photographer at this year's TamiyaCon contest (The photographer is unknown because I forgot to write his name down, although I believe it is a fellow named Brandon Hopkins. Whoever you are, you are a much more talented photographer than I!).

The other photos were taken with my Sony DSC-P8 Cyber-shot.
